Ethereal Lacquer – In the Name of The Moon collection

These polishes were sent to me for swatches and review. My comments and opinions are included for potential customers to make their purchase experience better.

These photos taken with my iPhone 11 and I use a light box, a lamp pointed away and a ring light for side light. Macros taken with a clip on magnifier. I tried to include low light shots to show the shifts you will see in normal room lighting. Swatches shown with a glossy top coat and some shown with matte top coat. For sheer polishes, I included base colors to show variety.

Love and Justice – A bright violet jelly base full of iridescent flakies that shift pink, red, copper, gold to green.

Shown here three thin coats and glossy and matte top coat. I also show this in one coat over a deep purple creme (Passionfrost by Ethereal) to give it the deeper look on the bottle. It has a gorgeous shimmer shown below as I move from direct to indirect lighting. It applies smoothly and great formula. Jelly polishes apply sheer but build up nicely depending on how much opacity is desired.

Gilded Galaxy – A mango yellow base with very small holographic flakes, red, gold to green iridescent flakies and a subtle copper shimmer.

This polish is shown in 2 coats with glossy and matte top coat. It applies smoothly and the color is even more stunning in person. The gold and red in this polish gave me Belle/Beauty and the Beast vibes. The jelly polish starts out sheer but it does build up great. The polish was super easy to apply and if you dab the brush as you paint, you can place the flakies as you like.

Space and Time – A deep turquoise base with an emerald, aqua, gold to fuscia multichrome pigment and scattered holographic flakes.

Shown here in 2 coats with glossy top coat. This polish is absolutely stunning and the shimmer will have you staring at your nails for hours. The formula was absolutely perfect and applies smoothly.

Powerful Love – A brightened blue base with a gold, green, aqua to blue shifting shimmer and scattered holographic pigments.

Shown here in 2 coats with glossy top coat, it starts out sheer on the first coat but builds up nicely. Longer nails may have a visible nail line and if you prefer more opacity, I recommend using another layer or using a VNL base coat.

Zirconia – A deepened violet bas e with a linear holographic effect.

It applied great on the first coat but I added a second coat for my swatch. Shown with glossy top coat. This polish is super shifty and sparkly in direct lighting as you can see the purple color pop, but then deepens in lower lighting.

Black Moon – A pale pink base with a bright pink to orange shifting shimmer and scattered holographic flakies.

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat, it applies smoothly with a little VNL on the first coat but gets more opaque on the second. This polish is a whole lot of surprise, you think you’re getting a basic pink and then the holo and shimmer hit you with the stun guns. This polish has a cool purple sided pink in direct lighting and then shifts into a coraly orange shimmer in low lighting.

Dupe Comparison:

Here is a comparison of this polish with a similar looking polish from the last release. Shown alone and over a bright cherry creme, Dragonfruit by Ethereal

  1. Index: Black Moon 2 coats
  2. Middle: 1 coat of Black Moon over Dragonfruit
  3. Index: 1 coat Frozé over Dragonfruit
  4. Pinky: Frozé 3 coats

In the Name of the Moon – A bright and colorful turquoise jelly base with a bright pink to orange shifting shimmer.

This was the one that caught my eye when opening the polishes. It is super sheer, I used 3 thin coats in my swatch of the polish. But then I layered it over an aqua creme (Frozen Aqua by Ethereal) and it was absolutely stunning. The shift in this polish had me drooling and I couldn’t stop staring. If you don’t like VNL, I recommend a base color that is close to the turquoise base or use a VNL base coat.

Silver Crystal – A pure colorshifting shimmer polish with color shifts of gold, green, aqua, blue. At extreme angles you can also see purple, orange and pink. Best worn over white to showcase the entire shift range.

Dupe Comparison:

I also wanted to add in a note as I have seen comments about this polish being a dupe for Lūmen Radiance. They are similar polishes but definitely not a dupe. It may be close enough for someone to say that they don’t need both but here are side by side comparisons for you do determine if you need this polish in your life (you do)

Lūmen Nails launch

Have you ever met such an amazing friend, whose sunshine matched your sunshine? Someone who even though you just met, you just knew that person was gonna be your friend for life? Then you meet their momma and now that’s your momma!

That’s what it was like when I met Meagan and her mom Shantaie for the first time. It was instant family. Now Meagan has been successful at running Ethereal for some time and her mom has supported her amazingly, and now she is launching her own brand, Lūmen. And I will tell you, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree cause they both have a knack for gorgeous shimmers and great formulas.

Let’s check out what is going to be offered during the debut! *These items were provided as press samples and these are my honest thoughts on the products.

(Note: there are some powders that will be launched as well and I’m still working on those swatches)

Cremes. Every brand needs a good line of cremes. I’m picky with my cremes. I like them to apply smoothly, in 1-2 coats, and be self-leveling. These cremes did all of this. They are shown without top coat because I came in and applied the toppers right after, so you can see it in its natural finish. These colors are going to be part of her core collection if I heard right.

Frost– A stark white creme with a self leveling formula opaque in 1-2 thin coats formulated with top coat built in for extra shine and durability.

Cinder– An ultra black creme formulated with top coat built in for extra shine and durability opaque in 1-2 thin coats.

Aquarius– A deep and mysterious purple creme with some blue tones, formulated with top coat built in for extra shine and durability.

Frost in 2 thin coats no top coat
Cinder in 1 coat no top coat
Aquarius in 2 thin coats no top coat

Toppers. Now in all honesty, I’m not a huge topper fan, so I was a little hesitant at first. But when you see the bottles, you can’t help but fall in love. These toppers were easy to apply but make sure you get a good enough bead on your brush to paint your nail in one go. The shimmer can be a little unforgiving if you have to go back in the bottle for more. I used one coat and a quick dry top coat with these toppers. I didn’t have enough time to play with all the possible combinations but I can upon request.

Radiance. A clear based colorshifting shimmer topper that shifts simmering gold, lime, emerald to aqua, when worn over white you get a magical rainbow like effect! Instant and effortless mermaid nails!

Polish Pickup August 2019 – At The Carnival

It’s time for another fun month of Polish Pickup! This month’s theme is At The Carnival and there are some great inspirations for polishes and handmade products!

Different Dimension

Come One, Come All

Come One, Come All is a steel blue crelly based polish packed with pink/orange/copper/gold color shifting iridescent flakies, red/green/orange aurora shimmers, holographic microflakies and holographic microglitters.

Shown in 2 coats with glossy and matte top coat.

It will be $11 and there will be no cap.

On The Midway nail oil pen

On The Midway is a custom blended fragrances cuticle oil that smells just like the moment you step into the carnival midway, with notes of kettle corn, candy apples, cotton candy and lemon shakes.

It is such a pleasing scent, it’s not sugary sweet but delightfully reminiscent. The pens are high quality with soft brushes.

It will be $5 and there will be no cap.

Luna Wax

Not Your Average Caramel Apple

Not Your Average Caramel Apple is a delicious looking and smelling wax apple drizzled with Elephant Ear “flavored” caramel and filled with cotton candy.

Thinking of that combo actually made in real life sounds a tad sweet for me but in a wax, these scents are amazing together.

The apple note is picked up first, along with the sugary notes. It’s a super sweet and smooth scent. It does have a cinnamon note but I didn’t smell it while melting.

I sliced it with my apple slicer, it worked pretty well but some of the slices fell apart, but that made it easy to add little bits to the wax warmer.

And another fun note, this wax makes the room smell good just sitting out! I had it out of the package and my house started smelling like the caramel apple.

This 4-4.2 ox wax melt will be $6.25 and it’s capped at 75 for US and 5 for UK.

LynBDesigns

They See Me Flyin’

It’s a warm pink base filled with pink to copper to violet shifting shimmer, two different varieties of blue UCC flakies, and micro holo shreds. Shown in 2 coats with glossy and matte top coat.

It will be $12 and capped at 225 for US and 25 for UK.

Vom Com anti-nausea personal essential oil diffuser

This is Vom-Com anti-nausea essential oil diffuser. It has a blend of ginger, orange, peppermint, and fennel essential oils to help calm your stomach and create a peaceful mood.

In all honesty, at first sniff I was taken aback, then I tried again and it wasn’t as bad. It reminds me of black licorice. It definitely grew on me each time I used it. I don’t suffer from nausea often but I can see how it would be soothing. It is easily portable in your purse or bag. The lid screws on so it is safe to carry. It’s a great way to carry your essential oils with you.

It will be available from August 2-5 at http://www.polishpickup.com for $5.50 and there will be no cap.

The Soapy Chef

Resin Soap Dish and soap bar sample

This is a handcrafted resin soap dish and soap sample.

Each soap dish will be different. Inks of orange, blue, pink and yellow swirl together with black and white glitters, a dusting of 24K mica and a gorgeous pewter grey base.

Since no soap dish should be without soap, you will receive a sample that reminds me of fall, with a orange zest, nutmeg, cinnamon, and buttery sugar.

The top represents the winter to come, a combination of berry, floral, patchouli, woody, vanilla orange, lemon, allspice, clove, pine, cinnamon and moss. (It sounds like an overwhelming amount of scents but I loved the scent of the soap and the way it left my hands smelling like)

A limited number of full sized soap bars will be available in her shop starting September 1, 2019.

It will be $14 and capped at 32.

Turtle Tootsies Polishes

Deep Fried Oreos

Don Deeva Nail Polish – June 2019 releases

Hi everyone! I am so excited and honored to have the Don Deeva’s June releases here for you. Hide your wallets now so you don’t go crazy. I hope you enjoy reading about and seeing all the pretty polishes!

Prices are listed on each polish and release details are at the end of the post.

Let’s start off with this gorgeous duo inspired by the Little Twin Stars by Sanrio.

These are thermals, but not your average thermals, they are cold reactive thermals. They are super reactive but they react differently. Instead of reacting to heat, they react to the cold. It took me a little time to get them to react with some icy water but when they did, they were gorgeous. My body temperature stays warm so it mostly stayed in the warmer state for me but even the warm state is a gorgeous delicate color. You’ll see the cold state appear on the brush when it hits cold room temperature but it takes a little more cold to get it to react on your nails. I can’t wait to see how amazing this looks in colder weather! Just be patient with this one and you’ll see how awesome it is!

Kiki, do you love pee?

The name of this polish has me cracking up, this song has been stuck in my head thanks to D…I’m laying in bed trying to fall asleep and suddenly I’m humming it. Oh well (scroll to the bottom to see my Kiki challenge video for this polish!)

Kiki is a stunning thermal that transitions from a turquoise/baby blue/to a transmission white color. She’s loaded with original unicorn pigment and sister pigments. She is a little more shy to come out in the cold than Lala, but she has a perfectly delicate color when she does!

This polish will be $17.

Lala’peelooza

Lala is a gorgeous thermal that transitions from a baby pink to a coral “pinge” loaded with original unicorn pigment and sister pigments. She holds her cold state very well once you get her to a cold temp. I love this coral color so much!

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love a good coral…even in the warm state, I loved this color!

This polish will be $17.

June Custom: Princess BubbleYUM

This polish is a gorgeous neon pink polish with sparkly aurora throughout. It’s not just pink, it’s PAAANK! And hear that in the twangiest southern drawl possible. If you want bright, you got it.

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat. Pictures and video cannot do this polish justice! She leans coral in photos but she is a juicy hot pink that sparkles like nobody’s business. It’s perfect for summer manis and pedis.

This polish will be $12.

Rated D (for Deeva?)

Rated D for??? Who knows…Deeva? Delicious? Daaaaaannnnggg! Whatever your imagination comes up with…It is a lovely grey thermal that transitions to a taupe/champagne. It’s loaded with original unicorn pigment and sister pigments, as well as holo flakes.

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat. This polish transitions quickly and easily and I love the color so much! The UP in this one definitely stands out!

It will be $17.

Ocean Eyes (Oops)

Ocean Eyes (Oops) is loaded with gorgeous shifty flakes and holo flakes in a gorgeous blue to colorless thermal base. The Original Ocean Eyes was made back in March and was high in demand to make a comeback and this is very similar but the blue is deeper! So if you like this one, make sure to grab it before it disappears.

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat. This polish transitions quickly and easily. Blue polishes are my weakness so this one really captures my heart.

My hubby loves polishes this color, he says they match my eyes. They can go from a medium blue to an icy blue. Since he’s red-green color blind, it’s a color he has no issues seeing. So this is definitely one of my favorites!

This polish will be $13.

Trash Panda

Can I take a moment to appreciate the name of this polish?? It reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Guardians of the Galaxy. Plus raccoons are so dang cute and mischievous, I love that they are called trash pandas!

Trash Panda is a yummy blurple jelly polish with shifty flakies, holo flakes, original unicorn pigment and sister pigments. All the pretty things are jam packed into this polish!!!

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat. This polish is super gorgeous and there’s so much going on in there.

It will be $17.

Two Words, 1 finger

Two Words, 1 Finger, I giggled at this polish name, because it could go so many ways. So I’m just gonna imagine it’s a thumbs up and Good Job (sarcastically, of course) Because when someone cuts me off in traffic, that’s what I gesture and say. (I drive a school bus so I can’t do the bad version!)

It is a sassy eggplant colored magnetic polish that’s loaded with original unicorn pigment and holo flake. This cutie magnetizes with a teal, pink and blue.

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat. I am using a magnet from Kathleen and Co that is super strong and magnetizes under the finger but any magnet will work with this polish! I posted a link for this magnet below.

This polish will be $17.

Switchblades and Mermaids

Switchblades and Mermaids…y’all…and I mean y’all in the most southern way of saying “pay attention to what I’m about to say!”…this beauty is packed out with opaque holographic goodness. Just look at this deep teal metallic blue!!! It’s kinda mesmerizing, and I’m totally stamping some mermaid scales over this polish!

Shown in 2 coats and glossy top coat. The holo in this polish is stunning and if you don’t grab it while you can, you’ll be sorry.

It will be $13. And it comes with the cutest mermaid tail ring.

Release information:

This collection will be available Friday, June 14 at 3:00pm EST at the Don Deeva shop.

For the swatches, I used Don Deeva Soo Glossy top coat. All polishes applied smoothly and I didn’t add any thinner to any of them.

If you want the link to the magnet I used in this post, you can get it here from Kathleen and Co. It will be available for a month in her shop.

I’m adding this in as a special treat I made after publishing this post. I made a fun video for Danette and her polish Kiki, do you love pee. I hope you enjoy it!

Ok, what is this Unicorn Pee pigment everyone wants???

For those new to ‘Unicorn Pee’ it’s a rare and highly sought after pigment that shifts from a coppery red to an orangey gold to a green.

The pigment isn’t produced any longer, so it is limited. You can still get it if you look hard, but it’s not as easily available as it used to be. Most of the pigment is from personal stashes people have held onto and it’s incredibly pricey, which is why any polishes that have OG UP are more expensive than other polishes.

There are similar pigments out there and some may have the same color shifts but they aren’t quite the same as the original Unicorn Pee.

There are 4 types of Unicorn Pee, the OG UP is a red to gold to green shift. The sister pigments have the same structure but they have different colors, they have been called Pegasus pee or Mermaid pee, but these are the other colors:

•Blue to green shift

•Green to gold shift

•Teal to indigo shift

Bluebird Lacquer Rainbro Lite collectio

Hi guys! Lou sent me her newest pastel collection for review and swatches. My review is honest and of my own opinion.

First of all, I will disclaim, I am a huge creme fan. I know that sounds weird in a polish world full of gorgeous holos, shimmers and flakies, but my heart my heart will always pitter patter for a good creme. And with that said, I am straight up picky with my cremes. Indie makers do cremes so much better than mainstream polishes (the ones you find in stores) My standards include: a good medium sized brush that fans out easy, a formula that may be on the thinner side (personal preference), self leveling and opacity it 2 coats, one coaters don’t really mean much to me because if I wear them alone I use 2 anyways. Miss Loubird hits all of these criteria with her cremes. So let’s get busy looking at the pretty colors.

These colors aren’t your average pastels, they are unlike anything in my collection. These are more of sherbet colors and they are absolutely gorgeous. I will not only share swatches but also video swatches and tutorials for you to see the beauty of these polishes.

These dry to a glossy finish although a matte top coat looks so pretty. They watermarble and stamp, although I used them in a fun gradient. I will link some other blogs that show these techniques.

All swatches are shown with glossy top coat and also with matte top coat, Nothing Else Matters by Bluebird Lacquer. This matte top coat is the matte-st of mattes! No sheen or shine left, all matte.

Brosé All Day

This is the pink of the collection. This is such a fun pink, leans towards bubblegum but not as bright. I would dare say someone who doesn’t like pink may tolerate this one…may!

True Bromance

This is the orange color in the collection. It was darker than what I expected for a pastel collection but this tangerine is still bright and cheery but also not an “in your face orange” that comes with most oranges. It is a perfect shade!

Say It Ain’t Bro

This is the yellow of the collection. Yellow is known in the polish community for being the least liked color but this soft lemony beauty is so pretty! I really loved it matte best!

Brollercoaster

This is the green color of the collection. This reminds me of creamy pistachio Watergate salad (my northern is showing lol) this color is soft yet bright, it’s not overpowering.

Stick With The Brogram

This is the blue polish of the collection. This color leans a periwinkle shade of blue and it’s SO gorgeous. I had a hard time taking this one off because it just captured my blue lovin’ heart.

Brocial Media

This is the purple of the collection. This is such a perfect purple. I love colors that stand out but aren’t overpowering to the eye.

Grass’s Out, Classes Out

This is the pastel flakie topper of the collection. I loved how it looks matte because you really see the light colored flakes so much better. It looks great over a variety of colors but I picked a medium grey base. It applied smoothly and the flakies laid down perfectly. I liked that they weren’t overwhelming and that it was more of an accent that didn’t take away from the base color.

Nail Art:

I decided to do a no tool gradient with these colors. That means I didn’t use any sponges to blend the colors, only the brushes from the polish. It is less clean up and a lot quicker. I usually do this when I’m stamping over the gradient because it doesn’t have to be perfect. This gradient isn’t my best work but I thought it turned out pretty good.

Here’s the tutorial for doing this technique:

After I did the gradient, I decided to add some stamping. For this mani I used:

@cuticulanailcare Nail tape in Loopy

@lanternandwren Simply Silver clear stamper

@bundlemonster @hellomaniology Bombshell Baby BM-XL359 stamping plate

@musiccitybeauty Black Velvet

@vibrantvinyls Sticky base coat and Quick Dry Top Coat

Here is the tutorial for this:

Conclusion:

So why do you need this collection in your life? Well if you haven’t seen how pretty and amazing these cremes are, justify it that they are unique and you will use them over and over. In fact, you will find yourself reaching for them time after time to try new manis with. You’ll grab them on a rainy day when you need a bright pick-me-up. You’ll grab them when you want a bright color that will grab everyone’s attention. You will grab them simply because you love them.

These polishes will be available in the Bluebird shop here.

Each polish is available for $8 starting March 8 at 5:00 pm EST.

The full set will be $56 with free shipping in the US and Canada. International rates will vary. This set includes 6 cremes and a pastel flakie topper.

As I mentioned earlier, here are some other bloggers who reviewed this collection that you may enjoy.

LynB Designs – Mani Masterpieces collection

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to show you swatches of this upcoming collection from LynBDesigns. I love looking at art, I never got to study it like I wanted because life happens but swatching this collection was a fun experience. Jennalyn somehow captured a piece of art in each polish. Whether you get the whole collection or just a few, these polishes will not disappoint. I love her formula, it applies smoothly. Occasionally I use polish thinner for my personal preference but it is not required for application. The colors have good pigment and went on with 2-3 coats.

Swatches are shown with Cuticula peel off base coat and Timeless top coat as well as Quixotic Truly, Matte-ly, Deeply quick dry matte top coat.

These items were provided to me as press samples but the reviews are honest and my own opinion.

Mani Masterpieces- This collection is released in 2/8 at noon and half off with the code ARTFUL through the 12th, polishes are 10 dollars each when full price. They are available in her shop.

Let’s get started with this amazing collection!

Shown with glossy top coat

Shown with matte top coat

Don’t Gogh Breaking My Heart-

This polish is a sky blue base with gold shimmer, UCC flakies that shift from pale green to copper to pale gold to aqua, and golden holo glitter. It applied smoothly and the flakies were just right. I loved how bright this color and how the gold bit really showed up. I loved this one with matte and glossy top coat.

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. Although The Starry Night was painted during the day in Van Gogh’s ground-floor studio, it would be inaccurate to state that the picture was painted from memory. Van Gogh depicted the view at different times of day and under various weather conditions, including sunrise, moonrise, sunshine-filled days, overcast days, windy days, and one day with rain. While the hospital staff did not allow Van Gogh to paint in his bedroom, he was able there to make sketches in ink or charcoal on paper; eventually he would base newer variations on previous versions.

The Nighthawks at the Museum-

This is a darkened teal base loaded with micro holo flakies, intense aqua to blue to purple to red shimmer and gold iridescent flakies. It applied smoothly and has a gorgeous shift and shines perfectly with a glossy top coat.

The Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. One of the best-known images of twentieth-century art, the painting depicts an all-night diner in which three customers, all lost in their own thoughts, have congregated. The four anonymous and uncommunicative night owls seem as separate and remote from the viewer as they are from one another.

What’s the Pointillist-

This is a spring green base with a rainbow of UCC flakies and holo micro shimmer. It applied smooth in 2 coats and the flakies also had no issues. I loved the way this looked with a matte top coat. It is the perfect spring color of green and the multicolored flakies make me ready for spring!

Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande by Georges Seurat. For Parisians, Sunday was the day to escape the heat of the city and head for the shade of the trees and the cool breezes that came off the river. And at first glance, the viewer sees many different people relaxing in a park by the river. The border of the painting is, unusually, in inverted color, as if the world around them is also slowly inverting from the way of life they have known.

Show Me the Monet-

This is a pale purple base with UCC flakies that shift from cyan to blue to purple to pink and blue to green to purple shifting shimmer. This applied smoothly in 2-3 thin coats. Again, another perfect spring color with stunning flakies. This bright color looks perfect with a glossy or matte top coat.

Monet room at the Chicago Art Institute. Claude Monet’s series of 15 canvases depicting the village of Vétheuil, 7 miles from his home in Giverny, dates from July 1901. During that summer, the artist and his family rented a small riverside house in Lavacourt, across the Seine River from Vétheuil, to escape the heat. The Vétheuil series shows the view across the river from Monet’s balcony at various times of day. This painting depicts midday, and the one at right represents sunset.

Eyebrows on Frida-

This is a pale grey crelly base with intense green to purple to blue shifting shimmer and micro holo flakies. It applied smoothly in 2 coats and the shimmer really shows well with glossy top coat. Such a soft grey/silvery color, will make a great base for art.

Self Portrait by Frida Kahlo, Mexico’s greatest female artist, painted brutally honest self portraits that reveal her psychological response to adversity. Her original ambition was to be a doctor but a streetcar accident in 1925 left her disabled and changed the path of her life. It was after this accident that Kahlo began to paint in order to relieve the boredom during her convalescence.

Express Yourself-

This is a wild orchid crelly base with blue to purple shifting flakies, purple to lime to copper to pink shifting flakies, and purple to pink to gold shifting shimmer. It applied smoothly in 3 thin coats. This bright color is so captivating and I loved it with a matte top coat.

Madonna and Child captures the signature power of Gentileschi’s women through Baroque color and detail. The rich turquoise and pink of Mary’s clothes, as well as the intense use of shadow in the background, create a sense of dynamic realism and naturalism. Rather than overtly sexualizing Mary and constructing her as an object for masculine desire, Gentileschi uses Mary’s partial nudity to emphasize the maternal intimacy of the scene.

Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer – Riot Grrrl Collection

I think this is the largest polish collection I’ve ever swatched so get ready for a lot of pictures! Connie was telling me that we don’t have a lot of large collections released anymore, so she wanted to make a ginormous collection with lots of colors and finishes. I think she nailed it with an amazing assortment of gorgeous colors. If you asked me to pick a favorite, it would get incredibly awkward as I pick each one and eventually pick them all, so don’t ask me!

This is my first time trying this brand so I wanted to check out all the basics for what I look for in a brand. I like my polishes on the thin side (that can be a hard one especially if you have glitters and lots of pigment, so I carry thinner for my personal preference) but I’m pleased to say I didn’t have to use it but a couple times! I like my brushes to be a little bigger but not huge, brushes to spread easy because of my high sidewalls, I like to use 2 coats, I may add a 3rd as needed. I’m pleased to say that this polish brand met all of my preferences. All swatches are shown with Cuticula peel off base and Timeless top coat and also Quixotic Truly, Matte-ly, Deeply matte top coat. Now let’s look at all of the polishes. These items were provided to me as press samples but the reviews are honest and my own opinion.

Rebel Girl:

This is a black base jelly with red/orange/yellow sparks (looks more red/purple) and blue/green iridescent glitters. It applies smoothly in 2 coats, I did add a couple of drops of thinner for personal preference. The blue and glitters really stand out and sparkle against the dark purple. I prefer this one with matte top coat.

Sweet ’69:

This is an indigo blue based crème rose/copper sparks. This was almost a one coater! It applies super smooth with no lag and is absolutely gorgeous with a glossy top coat. It did stamp well but didn’t show up as good over black.

Oh. Cool Schmool!:

This beauty is a soft violet jelly holo base with purple shimmer. The first coat was sheer but super holo-y. It was opaque in 2-3 coats depending how you apply. And OH MY GOSH the holo…it was mesmerizing! The swatches honestly did not do this justice…it’s perfect with a glossy top coat to make that holo sparkle.

Bruise Violet:

This is a violet base jelly-ish base with orange/red shimmer. This applied perfectly in 2 coats. The color is outstanding and the shimmer really pops with a glossy top coat.

We Don’t Need You:

This is a wine based crème with a touch of shimmer. This applied smoothly in 2-3 coats. I absolutely love this deep color and the shimmer is subtle but stunning with a glossy top coat.

Bikini Kill(s):

This is a deep magenta based crème. (leans a bit pink) My pictures lean to red more but it’s more of a blue-ish hue. The macro shots are closer to actual color. This creme is amazing, and I’m a creme snob! It was smooth and was almost a one coater. I did test it with stamping and it stamps great but doesn’t show up over black as well.

Sweet Heart:

This is a gorgeous coral base crème  with pink/purple/orange shimmer. It applied smoothly in 2 coats. This color is so bright and beautiful and my camera flipped out with every lighting I tried. It shows here more red/orange than coral. I finally found a low light in my kitchen that came close to the true shade of this polish, but I would describe it as a flamingo coral. This is my favorite color to use on my toes because it always makes me look tan no matter how white my legs are! The shimmer just subtle but so beautiful!

Because…:

This polish is a nude base crème with pink/purple shimmer and rose/copper sparks. It applied in 2-3 coats. This was a great nude color. It reminded me of a melted chocolate Frosty from Wendy’s. I loved the way this color looked with a matte top coat.

PNW:

This is an olive green based crelly with gold/blue/green UCC flakies. It applied smoothly in 2-3 coats. The color is perfect! The shimmer and flakies soften up the olive green and it really pops with a glossy top coat.

Girl Riot:

This is a turquoise based crelly with red/gold UCC flakies and blue/purple/red shifting flakies. I was looking forward to this one so much. I love turquoise polishes so much! This color is absolute perfection. It applied smoothly in 2-3 coats and the flakies were the perfect amount, just enough on the brush for each layer. It was perfect with a glossy top coat.

Girls To The Front!

This is an azure blue based jelly holo. It applied perfectly in 2 coats. It has good pigment so it didn’t take a lot to build up and was the perfect blue color (yes blues are my favorite) the holo sparkles so perfectly with a glossy top coat.

New Rage Thinking:

This is a blue base jelly with blue/purple/red shifting pigment. It applied smoothly in 2-3 coats. I added a few drops of thinner for personal preference. This color is so bright and gorgeous and when I walked outside while wearing it, I gasped a little. It is perfect with a glossy top coat.

Polish Pickup-January 2019-Mythology

I have a few polishes for you that will be offered in Polish Pickup this month. These items were provided to me as press samples but the reviews are honest and my own opinion.

Polish Pickup is a pre-order collab that lets you try different brands and pay one shipping fee. The customers nominate and vote on each month’s theme and the makers use that theme for inspiration. It can be addictive, so beware! 😂

This month’s theme is Mythology, so these makers got creative and found some beautiful inspiration pictures. I included those with each polish so you could see them, I claim no rights to these pictures as they are used for inspiration only.

Make sure to check out the Bloggers of the Month and their pictures as well!

Rachel’s notes: This is a stunning color in either state! The shimmer really stands out. The thermal reacted very well naturally. I added a few drops of polish thinner for personal preference (I usually add thinner to most of my polishes) and it applied smoothly in 2 coats. Shown with a glossy top coat. This is our first UK polish maker for polish pickup! Let’s give her a nice warm welcome!!

Heather’s Hues – The Triple Goddess

Description: A deep indigo blue jelly filled with gold holo and flakes and a mix of multichrome flakes in gold/bronze/silver and copper/green/blue/violet

Rachel’s notes: Heather really made a stunning polish this month. Looking at the bottle did not do this polish justice! The gorgeous glitters and flakes really sparkle on the nail. It applies smoothly and was opaque in 2 coats. I used a glossy top coat and a matte top coat for the photos.

Kathleen & Co – Dawn of Aurora

Description: This is a blurple based holo with added blue/purple and red/gold Aurora pigments along with orange and multichrome pink/copper/green magnetic, magnetic flakes and scattered holo. This polish looks equally as pretty on its own without the magnetic effect. Wear either way for two separate looks!

Inspiration: In Roman Mythology Aurora is the goddess of Dawn. She renews herself every morning and flies across the sky. She announces the morning’s arrival.img_1797

Price: $12.50

Cap: 150

Rachel’s notes: This is another new to me brand. I was very impressed with the color and shimmer, and if you look closely, some flakies. I applied this in 2 coats using the arc magnet from Lantern and Wren. It applies smoothly and magnetized quickly. When using it as a magnetic polish, first of all shake well and re-shake with each layer, also apply thick-ish coats and hold your magnet still for about 15-20 seconds for each coat and the top coat. I stamped with El Corazon Kaleidoscope beige stamping polish with the UberChic Unicorn Love stamping plate while it wasn’t magnetized. This is a stunning polish either way you decide to wear it.

Lantern & Wren – Wonder

Description: This is a powerful teal creme with super shimmer and gold flakies to round things out.

Inspiration: Wonder Woman

Price: $11

Cap: 200

Link: https://the-pickups.com/collections/nail-art/products/lantern-wren-1

Rachel’s notes: This polish really comes to life on your nails! The flakies are subtle enough that this polish would make a great base for some gorgeous stamping (of course go check out Lantern & Wren for some amazing stamping supplies! I did not add any thinner to this polish. The handle is a nice rubber handle so it’s easy to open. The brush is on the larger side, but I had no issues painting my nails.

Here’s a little fan art for your viewing pleasure. I used Hit the Bottle stamping polishes (Snowed In and Poison Apple) with my Simply Silver stamper (best pickup for a clear stamper so far!)

Vibrant Vinyls – Stupid Cupid

Description: Exclusive scent of Fast & Hard quick dry glossy top coat. ‘Stupid Cupid’ – An intoxicating, irresistible blend of orange, raspberry, lime, and French vanilla. Scent will appear once fully dry.

It is also available in unscented for those who don’t want the scented version.

Inspiration: Cupid

Price: $7

Cap: 250

Link: https://the-pickups.com/products/vibrant-vinyls-stupid-cupid-scented-fast-hard-quick-dry-glossy-top-coat-unscented-option

Rachel’s notes: So my first attempt went a little sideways, I didn’t shake the bottle before using and I had a little smear in my stamping, but after figuring out my mistake it worked perfectly. So if you are new to this product, learn from me! This dries super quick and I was able to wash my hands after a few minutes of drying. The brush for this top coat glides amazingly over your nail. I had no issues flooding my cuticle area from trying to push it back. The formula is thin enough that you don’t have any resistance from being too thick and floats nicely.
